Soumoulou is a commune in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of south-western France. It is located in the Béarn region, on the left bank of the Gave de Pau river, about 10 km north-east of Pau. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and hot summers. Soumoulou has a rich history, dating back to the Middle Ages. The town was founded in the 11th century, and its castle was built in the 13th century. The town was an important centre of trade and commerce in the Middle Ages, and it was home to a number of wealthy merchants and nobles. In the 16th century, Soumoulou was besieged by the Huguenots, and the town was largely destroyed. However, it was rebuilt in the 17th century, and it has since prospered.
