Solovăstru is a commune in Bistrița-Năsăud County, Transylvania, Romania. It is composed of two villages, Solovăstru and Gledin. The commune is located in the northern part of the county, at 46°46′N 24°46′E, on the banks of the Someșul Mare River. The climate is temperate continental, with average temperatures ranging from -2 °C in January to 22 °C in July. The commune has a rich history, dating back to the 13th century. It was first mentioned in a document from 1245, under the name "Terra Zomus". The commune is home to several historical monuments, including the Orthodox church from the 14th century, the Roman Catholic church from the 15th century, and the fortified church from the 16th century.
