Silwād is a town in the West Bank, located 11 kilometers northeast of Ramallah. It has a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. Silwād has a long history, dating back to the Roman period. It was once a prosperous town, but was destroyed by the Crusaders in the 12th century. It was later rebuilt by the Arabs, and has been a center of olive oil production for centuries.
