Sheridan is a city in Yamhill County, Oregon, United States, located in the northern Willamette Valley. The city is situated at the confluence of the Willamette River and Sheridan Creek. Sheridan has a humid subtropical climate with warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The city was founded in 1846 by William R. Hunt and was originally named Willamette Falls. In 1889, the name was changed to Sheridan in honor of Civil War General Philip Sheridan.
