Shatoy, also known as Sovetskoye, is a town in Chechnya, Russia, located in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus Mountains at an elevation of 560 meters above sea level. The town experiences a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Its history dates back to the 17th century, when it was a fortified village of the Shatoy teip. Shatoy played a significant role in the Chechen resistance to Russian rule during the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, it is home to a population of around 15,000 people and serves as the administrative center of Shatoyevsky District.
