Shar’ya, also known as Shar'ja or Sjarja, is a town in Kostroma Oblast, Russia, located on the Vetluga River at the confluence of the Shar'ya River. The town has a humid continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. Shar'ya was founded in the 15th century and has a rich history and heritage, including the Church of the Intercession of the Theotokos, built in 1796, and the Shar'ya Museum of Local Lore, which houses a collection of artifacts from the town's past.
