Sharpsville is a borough in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located in western Pennsylvania, approximately 60 miles north of Pittsburgh and 25 miles south of Erie. The borough has a population of approximately 4,000 people. The climate in Sharpsville is humid continental, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The borough was founded in 1816 by James Sharp, a veteran of the War of 1812. Sharpsville was a major center of the iron and steel industry in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The borough is home to several historic buildings, including the Sharpsville Iron Furnace, which was built in 1846 and is now a museum.
