Şelimbăr, also known as Schellenberg, is a town in Sibiu County, Romania, located 5 km south of Sibiu. The town has a population of 12,531 as of 2011 and covers an area of 10.35 km². The average temperature in Şelimbăr is 10.5 °C (50.9 °F), with an average annual precipitation of 630 mm (24.8 in). The town was first mentioned in a document from 1318 and was granted town status in 2004. The town's heritage includes the fortified church, built in the 15th century, and the Brukenthal Palace, built in the 18th century.
