Selbyville, Delaware, is a small town in Sussex County with a population of around 2,000 people. It is located near the Indian River Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, about 30 miles south of Dover, the state capital. The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Selbyville was founded in 1740 by William Selby, a Quaker from Pennsylvania. It was originally known as Selby's Landing and was a major port for the shipment of agricultural products. The town's heritage is reflected in its many historic buildings, including the Selbyville Methodist Church, which was built in 1840.
