Schliengen is a municipality in the district of Lörrach in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, located in the southern Black Forest region, near the border with Switzerland and France. The municipality has a temperate climate with an average annual temperature of 10.5 °C (50.9 °F) and average annual precipitation of 890 mm (35 in). The municipality was first mentioned in 767 AD and was a possession of the Abbey of Saint Gall from the 9th century until 1806. The municipality's heritage includes a number of historical buildings, including the Schliengen Castle, which was built in the 12th century.
