Schelklingen is a town in the district of Alb-Donau in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located at an elevation of 520 meters (1,706 feet) above sea level, on the Swabian Jura, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) southwest of Ulm. The town has a population of about 6,500 people. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from -1°C (30°F) in January to 18°C (64°F) in July. Schelklingen was first mentioned in a document in 1075. The town was granted market rights in 1255 and city rights in 1280. Schelklingen is home to a number of historical buildings, including the Church of St. Ulrich, which was built in the 15th century. The town is also home to the Schelklingen Cave, which is one of the largest and most important show caves in Germany.
