It is situated at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level, on the banks of the River Brullés. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot summers and cold winters. Sasamón has a rich history, dating back to the Roman period. It was later ruled by the Visigoths and the Moors. In the 10th century, it was reconquered by the Christians and became part of the Kingdom of Castile. Sasamón has a number of historical monuments, including the Church of Santa María la Real, the Castle of Sasamón, and the Roman Bridge.
