Roslavl' is a city in Smolensk Oblast, Russia, located on the Oster River, 125 km east of Smolensk. It has a population of 52,215 (2010). The city was first mentioned in 1136. It was a part of the Principality of Smolensk until 1404, when it was annexed by the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In 1514, it was captured by the Grand Duchy of Moscow. The city was granted town status in 1755. Roslavl' is home to several historical and cultural monuments, including the Church of the Assumption (17th century), the Church of the Holy Trinity (18th century), and the Roslavl' Museum of Local Lore.
