Rinxent is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. It is located 10 km (6.2 mi) west of Calais, on the banks of the Aa River. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers. The average annual temperature is 10.5 °C (50.9 °F). The town has a long history, dating back to the Middle Ages. It was once a fortified town, and the remains of its castle can still be seen today. Rinxent is also home to a number of other historical buildings, including the church of Saint-Martin and the town hall.
