Ridder, formerly known as Leninogorsk, is a city located in the East Kazakhstan Region of Kazakhstan, near the border with Russia. The city has a population of around 48,000 and is known for its mining industry, particularly for the extraction of polymetallic ores. The city was founded in 1786 as a mining settlement and was named after the Russian revolutionary Vladimir Lenin in 1941. In 1991, the city was renamed Ridder.
