Rezina, Raionul Rezina, Moldova

Rezina, located in the central part of Moldova, is a city on the left bank of the Dniester River. The city has a humid continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. Rezina was first mentioned in 1495 as a fortified settlement. It was a part of the Principality of Moldavia until 1812 when it was annexed by the Russian Empire. In 1918, Rezina became part of Romania. In 1940, it was occupied by the Soviet Union and became part of the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1991, Rezina became part of the independent Republic of Moldova. The city is home to a number of historical and cultural sites, including the Rezina Fortress, the Rezina Synagogue, and the Rezina Museum of History and Ethnography.
