Recoaro Terme, also known as Recoaro, is a comune in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy, located in the Province of Vicenza, approximately 70 km (43 mi) west of Venice and 100 km (62 mi) east of Milan. The town is situated in the foothills of the Alps, at an altitude of 440 meters (1,440 feet) above sea level. The climate is temperate, with warm summers and cool winters. Recoaro Terme has a long history dating back to the Roman era, when it was known as Regium. The town was later ruled by the Byzantines, the Lombards, and the Franks. In the 12th century, Recoaro Terme became a free commune. The town was a major center of the wool trade in the Middle Ages. In the 19th century, Recoaro Terme became a popular spa town, due to its mineral springs. The town's heritage includes a number of historic buildings, including the 12th-century Church of San Pietro, the 14th-century Palazzo Pretorio, and the 16th-century Villa Vescovi.
