Rapid City, South Dakota, also known as Rapid-Siti or Рапид-Сити, is a city in the western United States, located at the eastern foothills of the Black Hills at an elevation of 3,231 feet (985 m) above sea level. The city has a population of 74,703 (2020) and is the second-largest city in South Dakota after Sioux Falls. Rapid City is known for its scenic beauty, outdoor recreation opportunities, and rich history and heritage. The city is home to several museums and cultural attractions, including the Journey Museum and Learning Center, the South Dakota Air and Space Museum, and the Crazy Horse Memorial. Rapid City also hosts several annual events, including the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the Black Hills Powwow.
