Quincy, Illinois, also known as Kuinsi or Куинси, is a city located in west-central Illinois, on the east bank of the Mississippi River. The city has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Quincy was founded in 1822 by John Wood and named after John Quincy Adams, the sixth President of the United States. The city has a rich history and heritage, including its role as a major port on the Mississippi River and its involvement in the Underground Railroad.
