The municipality is located in the comarca of Camp de Morvedre and is bordered by the municipalities of Benavites, Benifairó de les Valls, Faura, Sagunto, and Segart. The municipality has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is 17.5 °C and the average annual rainfall is 400 mm. The municipality has a rich history and heritage, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. The municipality was founded by the Romans in the 1st century BC and was later occupied by the Moors from the 8th to the 13th century. The municipality was reconquered by the Christians in 1238 and was incorporated into the Kingdom of Valencia. The municipality has a number of historical monuments, including the Church of San Miguel Arcángel, which was built in the 13th century, and the Castle of Quart, which was built in the 14th century.
