The CDP is bordered by the city of Pueblo to the east, the town of Florence to the south, and the unincorporated community of Colorado City to the west. The climate of Pueblo West is semi-arid, with hot summers and cold winters. The average temperature in July is 79°F (26°C), and the average temperature in January is 32°F (0°C). The average annual precipitation is 12 inches (300 mm). Pueblo West was founded in 1969 as a planned community. The community was designed to be a self-contained, master-planned community with a variety of housing options, schools, parks, and businesses. Pueblo West is home to a number of historical sites, including the El Pueblo History Museum, which tells the story of the city of Pueblo and the surrounding area. The museum is located in the historic El Pueblo Historic District, which is a National Historic Landmark.
