Prome, also known as Pyay, is a city in Myanmar located on the Irrawaddy River. The city has a tropical monsoon climate with hot, wet summers and mild, dry winters. Prome has a rich history and heritage, dating back to the 3rd century BCE. It was once the capital of the Pyu city-state and later became a major center of the Mon kingdom. Prome is home to several ancient temples and pagodas, including the Shwesandaw Pagoda, which is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Myanmar.
