Priozërsk, formerly known as Käkisalmi, is a town in Leningrad Oblast, Russia, located on the Karelian Isthmus, 140 kilometers northwest of Saint Petersburg. It has a humid continental climate with cold, snowy winters and warm, rainy summers. Priozërsk has a rich history dating back to the 12th century, when it was a fortress of the Novgorod Republic. It was later conquered by Sweden and renamed Kexholm, and then by Russia in 1710. The town is home to several historical landmarks, including the 14th-century Korela Fortress and the 18th-century Church of the Transfiguration.
