Primorsk's history dates back to the 13th century, when it was a fishing village under the rule of the Teutonic Knights. It became part of the Russian Empire in 1772 and was renamed Primorsk in 1946. The town's heritage is reflected in its preserved German architecture, including the 14th-century Fischhausen Castle.
