Pölitz is a municipality in the district of Herzogtum Lauenburg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is located approximately 10 km northeast of Ratzeburg, and 30 km east of Lübeck. The municipality covers an area of 23.36 km² and has a population of 1,200 (as of 2018). The average temperature in Pölitz is 8.5 °C, and the average annual precipitation is 700 mm. The municipality was first mentioned in 1230, and its name is derived from the Slavic word "polje", meaning "field". Pölitz is home to several historical buildings, including the St. Mary's Church, which was built in the 13th century.
