Pola de Siero, also known as Siero, is a town in the Principality of Asturias, northern Spain. It is located in the centre of the region, on the banks of the Nora River, at an altitude of 140 metres. The town has a population of around 12,000 people and is the capital of the Siero municipality. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 10°C in winter to 25°C in summer. Pola de Siero has a long history, dating back to the Roman era. The town was founded by the Romans in the 1st century AD and was known as Castrum Noega. In the Middle Ages, Pola de Siero was an important centre of trade and commerce. The town was granted a charter by King Alfonso X of Castile in 1255. Pola de Siero is home to a number of historical and cultural attractions, including the Church of San Pedro, the Palace of the Counts of Toreno, and the Museum of the Asturian People.
