Point Pleasant, West Virginia, is located in Mason County, at the confluence of the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers. It has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The town was founded in 1794 and is known for its historical significance as the site of the Battle of Point Pleasant during the American Revolutionary War. It is also home to the Mothman Museum, which celebrates the local legend of a mysterious creature said to have been sighted in the area in the 1960s.
