Pogar is a town in Brjansk Oblast, Russia, located at the confluence of the Sudost and Pogar rivers, 140 km southwest of Bryansk. The climate is humid continental, with cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers. The town was first mentioned in 1159 as a settlement of the Chernigov Principality. In the 14th century, it became part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and in the 16th century, it was incorporated into the Russian Empire. Pogar is home to a number of historical and cultural landmarks, including the Church of the Assumption (17th century), the Church of St. Nicholas (18th century), and the Pogar Museum of Local Lore.
