Platania, Calabria, Italy, is a town located in the province of Catanzaro, in the southern region of Italy. It is situated at an altitude of 500 meters (1,640 feet) above sea level and enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The town has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, when it was a fiefdom of the Ruffo family. Platania is known for its historical center, which features narrow streets and alleys, as well as its many churches and monuments. The town is also home to a number of traditional festivals and events, including the Festa di San Rocco, which is held every year on August 16th.
