Piriápolis, also known as Puerto del Inglés, is a seaside resort town located on the southern coast of Uruguay, in the Maldonado Department. The town was founded in 1890 by Francisco Piria, and its name is derived from his name and the Greek word "polis" (city). Piriápolis is known for its beautiful beaches, its temperate climate, and its rich history and heritage.
