Pianengo is a comune in the province of Cremona, Lombardy, Italy. It is located at 45°24′07.8″N 9°41′41.1″E, in the Po Valley, about 60 kilometres (37 mi) southeast of Milan and 25 kilometres (16 mi) northeast of Cremona. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot summers and cold winters. Pianengo has a long history, dating back to the Roman era. In the Middle Ages, it was a fief of the Bishop of Cremona. In the 16th century, it passed to the Spanish Habsburgs. In the 18th century, it became part of the Austrian Empire. In the 19th century, it became part of the Kingdom of Italy. Pianengo is home to a number of historical buildings, including the Church of San Pietro, the Palazzo Comunale, and the Torre Civica.
