Piancogno, Lombardy, Italy, is a small town located in the province of Brescia, at an elevation of 725 meters (2,380 feet). The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, wet winters. The average temperature in July is 23°C (73°F), while the average temperature in January is 2°C (36°F). Piancogno has a long history, dating back to the Roman era. The town was first mentioned in a document from 1041 AD. In the Middle Ages, Piancogno was a fortified town, and it was frequently attacked by enemy forces. The town was eventually captured by the Venetians in 1426. Piancogno remained under Venetian rule until 1797, when it was ceded to Austria. The town became part of the Kingdom of Italy in 1861.
