It is situated at the crossroads of US Highway 43 and Alabama State Route 157, 20 miles southwest of Florence and 90 miles southwest of Birmingham. The town experiences a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Phil Campbell was established in 1889 and named after Captain Phil Campbell, a Confederate Army veteran. It is known for its rich history and heritage, including the annual Phil Campbell Rattlesnake Rodeo, which has been held since 1929.
