Pearl River is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Orangetown, Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located north of New York City and west of the Hudson River. The hamlet has a population of 15,881 as of the 2020 census. Pearl River was founded in 1847 by a group of Dutch immigrants. The hamlet was named after the nearby Pearl River, which was named for its pearl-like oyster shells.
