Paxtang, Pennsylvania, is a small borough located in Dauphin County, just east of Harrisburg. The borough is situated at the confluence of the Susquehanna and Paxton Creek rivers, and is known for its historic architecture and its proximity to the state capital. The weather in Paxtang is generally mild, with warm summers and cold winters. The borough was founded in 1767 by John Harris, Jr., and was originally named Paxton Township. In 1890, the township was incorporated as a borough. Paxtang has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historic landmarks, including the Paxton Presbyterian Church, which was built in 1740.
