Paso de Carrasco is a city in the Canelones Department of Uruguay, located on the coast of the Río de la Plata, 19 km east of Montevideo. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with hot summers and mild winters. Paso de Carrasco was founded in 1873 by José María Carrasco, who named it after the narrow passage (paso) in the Río de la Plata that allowed ships to reach Montevideo. The city is home to the Carrasco International Airport, the main airport serving Montevideo.
