Panitian is a municipality in the province of Capiz, Mimaropa, Philippines. Located in the northern part of Capiz, it is bounded by the municipalities of Dumalag to the north, Sigma to the east, Maayon to the south, and Ivisan to the west. The municipality has a tropical climate, with an average temperature of 27.2 °C (80.9 °F). Panitian was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Dumalag. The town's name is derived from the word "panit", which means "skin" in the local dialect. This is a reference to the abundance of wild pigs in the area, which were hunted for their skin. Panitian is known for its rich cultural heritage, which includes the Panitian Festival, a week-long celebration held every year in honor of the town's patron saint, Saint John the Baptist.
