It is situated on the northern coast of Panay Island, bounded by the municipalities of Pilar to the west, Dumalag to the east, and Tapaz to the south. The municipality has a tropical climate, with an average temperature of 27°C. Panitan has a rich history and heritage, dating back to the pre-colonial period. It was originally a settlement of the Ati people, who were later displaced by the arrival of the Malay settlers.
