Owenton, Kentucky, United States is a small town located in Owen County at the intersection of U.S. Highway 127 and Kentucky Route 22. It is situated in the northern part of the state, approximately 50 miles north of Louisville. The town has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild, cool winters. The average temperature in July is 77°F (25°C), while the average temperature in January is 33°F (1°C). Owenton was founded in 1793 by William Owen and was originally known as Owen's Station. The town was an important stop on the Maysville Road, which connected the Ohio River to the Bluegrass region of Kentucky. Today, Owenton is a thriving community with a strong sense of history and heritage. The town is home to several historic buildings, including the Owen County Courthouse, which was built in 1844.
