Overton, Texas, is a small town located in the eastern part of the state, approximately 120 miles southeast of Dallas. The town has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The town was founded in 1846 by a group of settlers from Tennessee and was named after William Overton, a prominent local landowner. Overton has a rich history and heritage, with many of its buildings and landmarks dating back to the 19th century.
