Osceola, Iowa, is a small city in Clarke County with a population of 4,921 as of 2020. It is located in the south-central part of the state, approximately 40 miles east of Des Moines. The city has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Osceola was founded in 1846 and named after the Seminole chief Osceola. The city has a rich history and heritage, including the Osceola Opera House, which was built in 1881 and is one of the oldest continuously operating theaters in the state.
