Orthez, formerly known as Orthe, is a town in southwestern France, located in the Aquitaine region at the confluence of the Gave de Pau and Luy de Béarn rivers. The town experiences a temperate oceanic climate with mild winters and warm summers. Historically, Orthez was an important center of the Protestant Reformation and played a significant role in the French Wars of Religion. Its rich heritage is reflected in its medieval architecture, including the 13th-century Pont Vieux (Old Bridge) and the 14th-century Château Moncade.
