Orleans, Indiana, is a small town in Orange County with a population of 2,183 (2010 census). It is located in the south-central part of the state, approximately 30 miles northeast of Louisville, Kentucky. The town was founded in 1815 by a group of settlers from Kentucky and was named after the city of Orleans in France. Orleans has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The town's economy is based on agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism.
