Oleksandriya is a city in central Ukraine, located in the Kirovohrads'ka Oblast. The city has a humid continental climate with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. Oleksandriya was founded in 1754 as a fortress and named after Empress Elizabeth of Russia. The city grew rapidly in the 19th century due to its strategic location on the trade routes between Kyiv and Odessa. Oleksandriya is home to several historical and cultural landmarks, including the Oleksandriya Fortress, the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Oleksandriya Art Museum.
