Olcott, New York, is a village in Niagara County, located at the mouth of Eighteenmile Creek on the southern shore of Lake Ontario. The village has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Olcott was founded in 1829 by Thomas Olcott and was originally known as Eighteen Mile Creek. The village was a major port for shipping grain and lumber in the 19th century and is now a popular tourist destination for its beaches, fishing, and boating.
