Ober Kostenz is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located approximately 8 km south of Nassau and 15 km southwest of Limburg an der Lahn. The municipality has a population of around 500 and covers an area of 3.62 square kilometers. The average temperature in Ober Kostenz is 9.5°C and the average annual precipitation is 750 mm. The municipality was first mentioned in 1103 and was part of the County of Katzenelnbogen until 1479. In 1806, Ober Kostenz became part of the Duchy of Nassau and in 1866, it became part of the Kingdom of Prussia.
