Novomoskovsk, formerly known as Stalinogorsk, is a city in the Tula Oblast, Russia, located on the Don River, approximately 200 kilometers south of Moscow. The city has a humid continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. Novomoskovsk was founded in 1930 as a coal mining town and was renamed in 1961. It is home to several chemical and steel plants and has a rich cultural heritage, including the Novomoskovsk Museum of Local Lore and the Novomoskovsk Drama Theater.
