Nové Zámky, also known as Érsekújvár in Hungarian, is a city in southwestern Slovakia, located at the confluence of the Nitra and Žitava rivers. It has a temperate climate, with average temperatures ranging from -1°C in January to 21°C in July. The city's history dates back to the 11th century, when it was a fortress guarding the border between Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. It was later occupied by the Turks and the Habsburgs, and it played a significant role in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848.
