Northwood, Ohio, is a city in Wood County, Ohio, United States. Located in northwestern Ohio, Northwood is a suburb of Toledo and is situated at the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and Ohio State Route 199. The city has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Northwood was founded in 1852 by a group of settlers from New York and was originally known as Northwood Station. The city was renamed Northwood in 1893. Northwood is home to the Northwood University, a private university founded in 1903. The city also has a strong manufacturing base, with a number of companies located in the city, including General Motors, Ford Motor Company, and Chrysler.
