North Babylon is a hamlet located in the town of Babylon, Suffolk County, New York, United States. It is situated on the south shore of Long Island, approximately 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of New York City. The hamlet has a humid subtropical climate with warm, humid summers and cool, crisp winters. North Babylon was originally settled by the Algonquian Native Americans and was later colonized by the Dutch in the 17th century. The hamlet played a role in the American Revolutionary War and was home to several prominent historical figures, including William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
